Tactical Edge Receives SBIR Award for ITV
Tactical Edge has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract to provide an In-Transit Visibility (ITV) module for Lifts of Opportunity Program (LOOP) and the Transportation Exploitation Tool (TET). This research project, Navy SBIR 2015.2 – Topic N152-122, was put out for small businesses to help Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) planners to monitor the transportation of critical end items accurately and in near real-time.
Tactical Edge is very familiar with these issues, having been working to provide similar capabilities in support of the Office of Naval Research since May 2014. Tactical Edge has been building a Semantic In-Transit Visibility (ITV) Data-as-a-Service, incorporating data from a wide variety of enterprise and mobile data sources into a common and consistent semantic environment. This project creates a foundation that will now be extended to provide ITV support for TET, through expanding the real-time data processing and analytics capabilities of the data service with advanced machine learning and predictive analytics.
Senior Subject Matter Expert Megan Gerstenfeld explains the benefits,
“In TET, the Navy has developed a great tool to find cargo capacity onboard United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) assets. However, the ability to forecast the future location of critical equipment and supplies, both before and after the TET/LOOP process is constrained. Our ITV technology, once refined, has the ability to provide that capability. And, their capabilities would extend our ITV Data-as-a-Service reach, forming a truly symbiotic relationship.”
The SBIR effort will officially begin next month, but in the meantime, if you are interested in see a demo of the currently Semantic DaaS capabilities, or to learn about Tactical Edge’s broader Total Visibility Anywhere capabilities, contact Steven Palmer, Director of East Coast Operations, below.
