Tactical Edge Re-Appraised at CMMI Level 2 – DEV
August 21, 2020 (San Diego, CA) —For the second time, Tactical Edge has been appraised at a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Rating of Level 2 Development. The appraisal, conducted in June of this year, was performed by the Northern Utah Process Improvement Technologies (Corporation).
CMMI is a process level improvement training and appraisal program administered by ISACA and its subsidiary, the CMMI Institute. The verification model has various areas of focus and provides organizations with essential elements of processes that ultimately improve their performance.
The CMMI appraisal indicates whether organizations are performing at a “managed” level. This certification means that Tactical Edge’s processes are planned, managed, and executed following the outlined policy. The certification also includes an assessment and accreditation of their workforce to ensure Tactical Edge is employing skilled professionals with adequate resources. The appraisal goes even further, ensuring that the projects produce controlled outputs; involve relevant stakeholders; are monitored, controlled, and reviewed; and are evaluated for adherence to their process descriptions.
For Tactical Edge, the CMMI appraisal is a form of insurance to our customers that pricing is fair and verified. Project and portfolio managers, PMO’s, and contracting officers can be confident knowing that they’re receiving real value for their contracted projects, because our team is capturing the data to prove it.

The appraisal was completed using CMMI’s v2.0, which according to the CMMI Institute, “includes specific guidance to help organizations that use agile methods for development to strengthen their processes and scale their agile practices with a focus on performance.”
