Tactical Edge supports a wide range of operating environments and uses modern “DevSecOps” processes for managing the software and application delivery lifecycle. Tactical Edge is seeking to expand this team with new members experienced in systems (Linux) administration and container (Docker, Kubernetes) management, optionally with cloud-based deployment experience.

Position Description

Tactical Edge is seeking an experienced Program Manager with experience leading complex software development projects and managing IT project schedules/milestones, deliverables, costs, and risks. The Program Manager fosters and maintains the day-to-day relationship with the government client by identifying their needs and evaluating alternative business solutions. The Program Manager leads, manages, and supervises all project personnel.

Please note – this position is on-site in Albany, Georgia servicing a government client. The actual time at the office can be determined by the Program Manager (anticipated at least 4-5 days a week, core hours 8am-3pm). In other words, a hybrid schedule may be possible depending on the needs of the client and miscellaneous operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:
  • Determine project roles of team members based on project requirements, timeframes, and budget. Define skill sets (competencies) required for the project based on project specifications and requirements.
  • Determine resource requirements (including staffing, software, hardware, and facilities) of projects, based on project specifications.
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
  • Manage day-to-day client interaction. Set and manage client expectations. Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.
  • Identify, track, manage and mitigate risk on specific client engagements. Escalate these issues when necessary to ensure minimal impact to quality, budget, and timeline.
  • Communicate progress, risks, expectations, timelines, milestones and other key project metrics to clients and team members.
  • Ensure compliance for team members with company policy, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Conduct periodic review of team member performance.
  • PROJECT PLANNING/EXECUTION:
  • Explain implications of changes to project scope and/or objectives to the client and to the project team.
  • Lead the team to prioritize signed off project work based on analysis of strategic importance, tasks outstanding, obstacles or barriers, budgets, resources, and deadlines.
  • Manage the client stakeholders, team members, or contract personnel to design a solution and establish associated project timelines and budgets that allow for the delivery of the most strategic functionality within the project constraints.
  • Establish and maintain a usable and well-communicated schedule for all phases of the project.
  • Manage scope creep through client change orders, internal change orders, phased delivery, or other methods to ensure projects deliver on timeline, scope, and budget expectations.
  • Evaluate all key project deliverables, as well as final product to ensure traceability of requirements, high quality, and client acceptance.
  • Plan and establish project schedule to incorporate design, development, testing, and deployment of software to support client request
  • Provide status reporting, updates, and management briefings as required to support project planning and execution.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in one of the following: Business (Management or Finance) Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or Information Technology is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in a technical environment is required.
  • A current, active Department of Defense security clearance – SECRET level or higher – is required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • ITIL Level 4 certification preferred.
  • Marine Corps Logistics experience preferred.
